This email marked the official beginning of The Band-Aids softball team.
Hey friend!
So I'm still in Arizona and I really want to play in a co-ed city softball
league this summer (which is sooner than you think). And the best way
to do that is to start our own team. I've already got some friends who
are psyched about it, but I really want to pull this together. And the
reason you are receiving this email is because I thought you might be
interesting in playing or supporting the efforts going on here. So if
you have any interest in having a really good time and doing something
active, let me know. There are a few different types of leagues, but
I'm thinking we should be in one of the lower level ones...recreational
mainly, but still with a knowledge of the sport. Please, if you know
you have little to no athletic ability, be a fan instead of a player.
I wanna win some freakin' games. I mean, I haven't played in a few years,
but back in the day...well, I was kinda "the s***." Hahaha,
not really. But if you HAVE played before and you're decent and good-spirited,
let's do this!
Here is some info:
-We'll need someone to step up as coach and attend the coach's info
meeting on like March 14th at 7:30pm at the Pyle Recreation center,
which is right next to the Tempe Public Library (I'd go, but I'll be
in Austin that week). So if you want to be involved, but not play, this
could be a great opportunity for you.
-The team needs 12-20 players
-The fee for the entire team altogether is $326. We can get a sponsor
and thus waive the fee. If you know of any businesses that might want
to sponsor the team, please let me know. The cooler the sponsor, the
better, OBVI, their name will be on our shirts.
-The fee does NOT include uniforms (to my knowledge) but that's also
something we can get a sponsor to cover...or we can chip in like ten
bucks each and pay for it ourselves. And since we are in control of
our uniforms (if that IS the case), we can design them ourselves and
have them be hella awesome.
-Registration is March 27, so we need to get our s*** together by then.
-Games start on April 28th.
-The games are on Sunday nights. There are 7 weeks of games and then
single elimination playoffs. So we'll be playing at least 8 games.
-We'll probably have to practice a little too, but you know me, I'm
a lazy son of a b****, so it'll be pretty laid back.
OKAY...
If you want to check out the info yourself, you can go to: http://www.tempe.gov/pkrec/sportspage/adult/softball/default.htm
Write me back and let me know what you're thinking.
Can't wait!
Always, Lauren
