Round and Round We Go
By Lauren Henschen, Manager
A second crushing win by the Band-Aids has
set the tone for the season. We dominated. Honestly, I'm surprised
the Rounders scored at all. Except for a few minor and inconsequential
fielding errors, our defense was inpenetrable. At the plate we were
even deadlier. Our team was clobbering those balls. Noel zinged one
over the fence...and one into the center of my fanny as I stood at
third base. And as my butt will testify, those hits of his pack a
wallop. (No worries, Noel, I am totally fine).
We tried out something new in the outfield...a rover. That means three
set outfielders and one who roams wherever the ball will most likely
be hit. The rover was also designated to play short, meaning closer
to the field, in order to fill some crucial gaps. And I must say it
worked pretty well. Plus, the extra running back and forth across
the field gave me some much needed exercise.
T-Lo's pitching was exceptional. I don't think she walked a single
runner. And she once again got an impressive number of K's.
My play of the game goes to the entire Band-Aids
offense for getting on base with dextrous regularity. Everyone did
a great job, especially Charcho, who had my favorite hit of the night!
The game revolved around all things round: The Rounders, homeruns,
and my sore rear. You could say we've come "full circle"
as a team, finally returning to the league from which we came. And
the competition has yet to impress. As Byrd so amptly put it, "Did
we move down a league?" No, Byrd. But if we keep playing the
way we have been, we're moving up again next season. Go Band-Aids!
